He Will Never Forget Me
I will never forget you.
To forget.
I mis-
place and dis - regard
and forget,
yet
sparrows
He does not forget,
and
hairs,
He knows each number.
He cares.
I am no sparrow.
Sometimes I feel more insignificant than that,
a speck
no,
a molecule.
Number of hairs and grains of sand
each strand, falling one by one over her tear-soaked face
each grain moving with the tide
exactly when it needs to
exactly where it needs to
Tears and tides exist as a catalyst,
to evoke a response that otherwise would not be achieved.
A grain,
a strand,
a sparrow,
they aren’t
even
aware
that He cares,
yet He never forgets.
He will never forget me.
